| AMY !!! WE NEED HEATHCARE not Health Insurance |
|
A new poll this week from NBC/Wall Street Journal shows that 3 out of 4 Americans support President Obama's plan to create a public health insurance option that's NOT run by the insurance companies!
Next Thursday, thousands of those Americans will be travelling to Washington D.C. as part of the "Health Care Can't Wait" mobilization. Dozens of Minnesotans will be among those filling cars, buses, and planes across the country. Fortunately, you can support these efforts without spending 20+ hours on a bus.
As Minnesotans like you are visiting our Members of Congress, we will be visiting the Minneapolis Office of Sen. Amy Klobuchar. In her recent Star-Tribune editorial, Sen. Klobuchar was silent on whether or not she supports a public health insurance plan. We can't afford to be silent.
We will be meeting at the Open Book Coffee Gallery before walking to a couple blocks to Senator Klobuchar's office. We'll gather at three different times on Thursday, June 25th.
WHAT: Visits to the Office of Sen. Amy Klobuchar WHEN: Thursday, June 25th at:
#1: 8AM – 9AM #2: 11:30AM – 12:30PM #3: 4PM – 5PM
WHERE: Open Book Coffee Gallery at 1011 Washington Ave. South. Minneapolis, MN
Please join us for one (or all) of these visits.
If you cannot make it to Sen. Klobuchar's office during the day, you can join us Thursday night as we make calls to urge Minnesota's Members of Congress to support health care reform that includes a strong public health insurance option.
WHAT: "Health Care Can't Wait" Phonebank WHEN: Thurs, June 25, 2009 from 5:30PM to 8:30PM WHERE: TakeAction Minnesota's Office, 1821 University Ave. W., Suite S-137, St. Paul, MN
Thanks for your support!

Do we meet at the coffee shop at 11:30 and immediately go over to AK's office, or does the meeting last from 11:30 to 12:30?

(and these are party hacks) there was quite a bit of muttering about not being able to get a straight answer from Klobuchar about her position on health care.
I also heard the most awful news about a long time DFLer who has stage 4 cancer and maybe 4-6 months to live. It's one of the cancers that run in families and this person has one of the worse family histories for it I've ever heard. The doctor recommended screenings every 2 years for it because of the history, but insurance wouldn't accept the doc's advice and would only allow the tests every 5 years. Apparenlty the individual didn't have the money to cover it out of pocket. At the 4 year mark symptoms developed, but it was too late. I would be this is someone Klobuchar knows - no doubt she'll send a nice card when the time comes.
Yup, we have the best health care system in the world.
