Is the governorship a year around job?

I knot that the legislators meet from January thru May and, I suppose, are paid for only that time. What about our own hiking Timmy?

(Yes, I realize that last year Obama, Clinton and McCain did not spend much time doing their jobs... a separate issue)

But when a guy's trying to focus on his POST-governship 'career', then it's a different story.
So he gets paid year 'round.
But he's trying to hit all 50 states before his time is up. The old day-to-day just gets in the way.

Who's paying for all of these trips?!
And why is he getting paid to take them (unless the Governor gets Dubya-like vacation time)?
