Add global warming denying Ol' Mexico restaurants to your boycott list |
|
Ol' Mexico advertises on WWTC "The Patriot" radio. Their ad says something like "You'll find the food hotter than global warming, but unlike global warming, the food at Ol' Mexico is authentic ... make sure to say The Patriot sent you."
I guess they don't want the majority of Minnesotans to eat at Ol' Mexico. Tell these asshats what you think of their advertising--and their advertising vehicle--here:

Make sure to say The Raindog sent you!

4. Got an answer to my email from one |

John Pavlic, who is, I suppose, the owner or manager:
"It is a two way street, I absolutely refuse to be bullied by the likes of you. Get a life and listen to another station if you don't like it."
Here's what I wrote to him:
"Advertise on Patriot Radio?
Sorry. You won't find me in your restaurant. Supporting right wing radio stations is really going to limit your appeal to many in this area. Please rethink."

5. By the way, if you're looking for Mexican Food in Roseville, |
|
I recommend La Casita. It's not at all bad, and the menu is a lot better that Ol' Mexico.
Still, the very best Mexican food in the area can be found at El Burrito Mercado on Cesar Chavez, just across the river on Robert Street. It is actually authentic. Brush up on your Spanish, but they'll serve gringos anyhow. You can just point.

7. Yes the Food is Good But the Politics Bad |
|
Would that be the one with the picture of the owner with Ron Reagan on the wall when you walk in...the same owner who was a 'Bush Ranger'...and while I do go there (food is great)..I've noticed the high turnover of employees so I wonder about work hours, conditions, pay and benefits...still we don't live in a vacuum but it is nice to support Democratic Business!

8. The very same. If a President came into my restaurant to eat, |
|
I'd try to put a photo on the wall, too, no matter what party. It's a point of pride for any restaurant.
The restaurant business, in general, has a high turnover rate, so I don't draw any conclusions about that. What I like is that the restaurant always has a really varied clientèle. Last time I was in there, the table next to me held four people from Chile. Very interesting to talk to.
The other thing is the range of regions of Mexico that are represented in both the clientèle and menu. I can eat from just about every region, and I like that. It's not bogus Tex-Mex food or California-style food.
Further, I haven't noticed them advertising on right-wing radio stations. They are what they are...a great market and good restaurant. I've never encountered any politics there...of any kind. People come there to shop and to eat.
Not a lot of right-wing sentiment among Spanish-speakers in the Twin Cities, based on my experience working in the last election.
