|
State Rep. Jim Davnie NEWS RELEASE Minnesota House of Representatives District 62A (651) 296-0173 545 State Office Building, St. Paul, MN 55155 February 11, 2010 CASH FOR APPLIANCES PROGRAM SAVES FAMILIES ENERGY AND MONEY Rep. Jim Davnie encourages Minnesotans to take advantage of energy-saving federal program ST. PAUL, MN – Beginning March 1, 2010, Minnesota will implement an Appliance Rebate Program, commonly known as Cash for Appliances. This program is intended to help working families update their old household appliances with new Energy Star-qualified appliances, saving energy and money. State Representative Jim Davnie (DFL – Minneapolis) is encouraging Minnesotans to take advantage of this unique opportunity. “This is a great opportunity for many Minnesota families,” said Rep. Davnie. “Spending money on new appliances can easily be overlooked, but waiting to buy energy-efficient appliances can end up costing more in the long run. Cash for Appliances gives families one more reason to invest in new appliances and save money in the future.” The Cash for Appliances program contains rebates for the purchase of large household appliances such as clothes washers, dishwashers, refrigerators and freezers. Rebates range from $50 to $200, depending on the appliance purchased and whether the old appliance was recycled. For more information, visit the Minnesota Office of Energy Security Web site or call (800) 657-3710 or (651) 296-5175.
