What's the skinny on Ramsey County DA? Choi? Pinto? Pust? Schultz? |
|
What's everyone's take on the Ramsey County District attorney's race?
At my convention, I liked David Schultz the best. He seemed sincere but, of course, that was a first impression. I based this impression in large part on his description of his volunteer work on behalf of individuals believed wrongly convicted of crimes. I also liked the fact that he actually mentioned human rights while the other candidates seemed uninterested in human rights. John Choi, Dave Pinto and Tammy Pust all seemed to be running for the wrong reasons--personal ambition and ego. I've met so many phony politicians over the years that I tend to view all of them with cynicism and distrust these days. When all is said and done, they usually end up wealthy while those they supposedly serve end up in the poor house. Is something amiss here?
Also, someone told me that John Choi was overly zealous in prosecuting individuals demonstrating against the Republican National Convention. I guess that many of these overly zealous prosecutions were thrown out of court. The guy seems to have limited respect for human rights. What have others heard about Choi? Have others heard he is the type of little guy anxious to feather his bed by proving he is "tough on crime"?
What do others think? What do others know about David Schultz? I hope he is as deserving of admiration as he seems to be at first glance.
