Come Join the N'avi-Avatars for March 20th Peace March and Anti-War Rally

The nearly 10 feet tall papier mache puppets have emerged from 3 bags of flour paste and were recently seen radiating their distinctly blue charms while practicing their marching skills so as to be ready to participate in the March 20th Peace March to be held on the 7th anniversary of the start of the Iraq War.

There will be live music and speakers both before and after the march/rally. So come a few minutes early (before 1 pm on March 20th) to get your faces painted to help get the message across. (Cute young people with large blue ears are especially encouraged to help the Avatars wave their signs.) Who knows if this won't inspire a blockbuster movie or two!

1. I'm sorry--I don't care how many puppets you have

The parade route guarantees invisibility, just as meeting at the Uptown library guarantees a small crowd.

Who the hell is planning these events anyway? Has the organization been infiltrated by people who want to keep it ineffective?

Have a march down Nicollet Mall at lunch hour on a weekday, a march that urges other people to join the march, and I'm there. Have a march through obscure streets to an indoor rally where a bunch of speakers go on forever telling me stuff I've known for years? No thanks.

2. there have been marches in those places also.

I wouldn't call a march by the U of M is obcure.. when it is freezing cold and maybe raining.. ending up in a rally inside is just what we need.

And having bands and spoken word concerts is what the young people want and deserve.

The youth are marching from Sen Klobuchar's office on Washington Ave down to Cedar..
