protest at Betty McCollum's office to say no to the 33 BILLION funding |
|
Dear Peacemakers
The Twin Cities Peace Campaign is joining Merriam Park Neighbors for Peace, the Anti-War Committee and Women Against Military Madness in organizing a demonstration at the office of Representative Betty McCollum on Tuesday, May 18, at 4:00 pm, to call on her to vote against funding for the escalation of the war on Afghanistan.
No Funding for Escalation of the War in Afghanistan Say No to U.S. Attack on Kandahar Out of Afghanistan – Bring the Troops Home Now!
Office of Representative Betty McCollum Blair Arcade Building 165 Western Ave North, St. Paul (corner of Selby and Western) Tuesday, May 18, 4:00 pm
Congress will soon vote on a $33 billion supplemental funding bill for the U.S. war in Afghanistan. The funds will be used to escalate the war, including an attack this summer on the Afghan city of Kandahar. Fourth District Congressional Representative Betty McCollum has made it clear that she intends to support this additional $33 billion for the war.
The war in Afghanistan will not make the world safer; the escalation can only lead to more horrendous loss of life and increased hostility toward the United States.
We hope you will join us on May 18 to let Representative McCollum know that the people of Minnesota do not support this war.
We also ask that you call her office today to tell her to Vote "NO" on the $33 billion supplemental funding for the war in Afghanistan: 651-224-9191 (St. Paul) and 202-225-6631 (Washington, D.C.).

1. McCollum is gung-ho on Obama's war plan for Afghanistan. |

I don't believe she has ever seen a war funding bill she doesn't like.
To add to the fun, I just got McCollum's latest flyer in the mail. Inside, there's a picture of her proudly posing with, of all people, Bart Stupak. If they're such good buddies, perhaps Betty should follow Bart's lead and announce that she will retire after this term. McCollum needs to go.
