A Prophet People Event: “The Cost of Making War”
Speakers Tom White, peace and justice worker, member of Minnesota Alliance of Peacemakers (MAP), and Veterans for Peace, and Larry Johnson, Minnesota Veterans for Peace, Conscientious Objector/Medic during Vietnam, and peace activist will describe how their personal experiences have affected their present commitment to peacemaking. A Spiritual Perspective: White will explore the growing disparity between U.S. military spending and the limited, remaining resources available for growing domestic and global needs.

The Emotional and Personal Costs of War: Johnson will speak to the hidden, damaging emotional cost of war to veterans, including the long term impact on families and community of deployment of parents, multiple back-to-back deployments, and the historic, cultural disconnect between those who "serve" and those who don't. He will also look at how this personal trauma perpetuates community violence and the warmaking machine. and ...
