I am listening on the radio to it now and it sure is a rowdy crowd at the Fair. It comes across as well done as pure democracy with the crowd reactions. It also brings out the differences in the crowd. The Dayton and Horner supporters come across as reasonable with normal politeness for the debate. The Emmer supporters come across on the radio as a Tea Party crowd ready to rush the stage. Horner and Dayton come across as refined, wanting to work in the system whereas Emmer comes across as screw the system, let's destroy what we have and not have anything to replace it. It is so much easier to destroy than to build. Horner has talked about leadership styles and I agree that he and Dayton are showing it but Emmer is falling flat.

1. Couldn't listen to the whole thing because Emmer is loud, butts in, |
|
no one fact checks him and the garbage that comes out of his mouth. How about the idea he had for making the schools limit what they teach in certain areas, regions. What a nutbag. Talk about control. Emmer is truly a fright and we should do everything to stop him. He will place the final nail in the coffin of this State in regards to environment, jobs, class, etc..... I believe his crowd was planted. They were loud and rude. What MN. as well as the Country needs, is mods disciplining how people are acting during these things. Manners, fact checking, etc...

3. Lack of moderation showed Emmer supporters for what they are |
|
At the Fair it is hard to moderate as people come and go. Their crass behavior which was bad over the radio and probably much more obvious at the Fair came across as a crude, crass, very un-Minnesotan spectacle. Historically even Republicans know they need to talk Minnesota-Nice, which the Emmer-era GOP does not follow (thanks to the astroturf Tea Party movement).
In the end Horner represents a historical MN GOP approach (as he is a former Republican himself), and Emmer clearly shows how far off the cliff the current GOP is.
You are correct, the Dayton supporters came across as normal and engaged citizens. Even the Horner supporters has productive and not negative cheers over the radio.

2. Missed it, but saw the Strib article about it. |

http://www.startribune.com/politics/blogs/102153144.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUycaEacyUThere seem to be a lot of Dayton supporting comments. The Emmer camp are their old bullying and name calling selves.

5. In today's Strib article on it |
|
they mentioned that there were more rowdy Emmer supporters as there was some preplanned anti-tax rally just before the debate. So I guess the Emmer camp wanted a situation like last summer when rowdy people showed up at many US Rep town halls. They probably also wanted to take a jab by their perceived extreme liberalism at MPR (which is not true, MPR is moderate overall). Even a day after they hurt their case rather than helped it by their very childish attitudes.

4. This race means a lot to me-- |
|
I have a lot of relatives in MN. I hope every day that Dayton wins. I'm glad to see that somebody is still working for America. I would want nothing less than for my relatives to have to suffer the sheer terror that is Tom Error.
