Dayton up in the polls ... way up |
|
http://www.startribune.com/politics/blogs/122954138.htmlThis is from the past week and respondents indicated that if the 2010 election were held again, Dayton would win in a "landslide."

1. This is awesome. He has done a great job of stating his case re the budget showdown. |
|
And now there are ads all over the place stating that Governor Dayton is protecting the middle class while the Republicans are holding out so the wealthy don't have to pay their fair share!

There's drama, popularity and "traction" to holding-the-line on looniness - if you just e.x.p.l.a.i.n. what you are doing and why as you go along. Common sense is not common anymore. Why can't all Dems do this simple thing!?!?

7. He and DFLers should be buying ads by the truckload right now. |
|
They have the high ground, time to lay it on. During the month of June - especially this week - they should be buying ad time on tv and radio and in the print media as if it is two weeks before the general election of a super close race and use a single, simple unified message.
I am writing my state rep and senator (paper letters, sent via USPS) urging them to be responsible and compromise. And I am sending the governor a letter thanking him. Oh, and our district's DFL picnic is this month!!!!

4. Good. He will need our goodwill in the upcoming budget battle |
|
I fully expect a Minnesota government shut down to occur. The teabaggers here can't see the writing on the wall, so I fully expect them to double down on crazy to try to force massive cuts to government services. They are fiscally insane and are going to cost this state way more than they will ever save.
Please make sure to let the governor's office know you support his stance when crunch time comes.

5. Yes, and the right-wingers are having conniption fits |
|
and REPEATEDLY claiming that the Strib is only running this article because they endorsed Dayton--no matter how many times other people remind them that the Strib endorsed Horner.
But I suppose the KTLK yappers saying something trumps all facts.

8. Can't believe how people have no idea what govt does & how bad a shutdown is |
|
Including how a shutdown will cost more. They'll be screaming once they can't get a service they take for granted. I keep seeing all these "Bring it on, baby!" and "Shut 'er down!" comments.
And then there's the "independents/whatevers" who actually believed the MN GOP would create jobs and "focus like a laser on the economy". Or they just don't want to be taxed (even tho they're in the 98%) but don't get how property taxes will continue to go up.
Mark Dayton, we're with you (the totally non-insane, that is). Good idea to contact to show support!

10. Oh, but government isn't the solution to the problem. Government IS the problem! |
|
:sarcasm:
For thirty years, we've been ruled by people who treat this inane little slogan as gospel. Someday I'm gonna grab one of them by the collar and shout, "So if government is the problem, then the solution is what? Anarchy?"

12. I've always wondered why, if government is the problem, |
|
the people who say that are so anxious to be part of that government term after term.
