We'll have to have a gathering so you all can see my pictures, but several of the people we've encountered assciate Minnesota with the Mall of America. Having seen what prices are like here, I can understand why: for a Norwegian, shopping in the US is like an American shopping in Mexico.
I'm on a southbound Hurtigruten coastal ship a couple hours out of Bergen. The day after tomorrow we're going on a fjord tour, and on Friday I'm taking a bus to the mountain cabin of an American friend who was smart enough to move here 35 years ago.
I'll be back in August, but let me tell you, it feels REALLY good to be out of the country and away from most of the political news!

Sorry to hear that it appears we are unable to escape the right wing extremists no matter where we travel, we all have been thinking a lot about the people of Norway. What a tragedy.
If you have time to send a report I am sure many on DU would be interested in what you have to say about the situation over there right now.

She was at a friend's cabin in the mountains when this happened and they did not hear about it right away.
Last I heard she is in Oslo and she posted an incredible picture on her Facebook pabe of the flowers & candles that have been left at the cathederal in Oslo.
