I'm posting from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which I guess is about 50 miles or so from the Mississippi border.
I was just wondering if the Dems stand to gain anything over there on Tuesday.
Over here in Alabama, the gubernatorial race seems lost, but it's not all bad. I think we stand a good chance to pick up some seats on the state Supreme Court, which is currently composed entirely of Repugs. I also think we stand a good chance of taking the Lieutenant Governor's race, and Attorney General. We would have a good chance to capture one GOP House seat if the candidate, Greg Pierce, had any money. But he is out funded by something like 100 to 1. Five, of the other six, of our House seats are gerrymandered beyond belief. I wish Dr. Dean would've given Pierce a few bucks.
We don't have any Senate races this year.
So I don't guess Alabama will have any relevance in regard to capturing Congress, but we have some realistic chances in statewide races.
I'm ashamed that I know so little about Mississippi politics. My dad was from Mississippi!
So, what's it look like over there, neighbor?

all we are having is lame local judges elections. though when i was in alabama, i saw some of the attack ads and they were pretty vicious. :scared:
whenever Thad Cocheran (i'm thinking he'll retire before Lott will) retires, i think Mississippi will have a chance of getting a dem senator (Mike Moore, former atty. general)

| 3. yeah, we had some vicious ads |

It was the nastiest campaign cycle I can remember.
I guess nothing much changed, except that Sue Bell Cobb, a Democrat, was elected Chief Justice. That's a wee bit of good news.

| 2. We have four congressional seats |
|
Two dems, two republicans, and unless there is some incredible surprise all four incumbents will win. Likewise with trent lott, highly unlikely he'll get less then 60% of the votes.
