To all Missourians that complain about high taxes.......

Please be quiet. Missouri has one of the lowest tax burdens in the country. In fact, in every taxable category that I've found, Missouri is in the bottom ten in the country.

That includes income, state, local, property, corporate and sales taxes.

In fact, for every $1.00 that Missourians put in for Federal Taxes, the state receives $1.33 back.

Now they (Repukes) say there isn't enough money to support all these programs, to which I say, "Be the party of personal responsibility and stop taking welfare from the rest of the country. Try being more fiscally responsible and raise your taxes a bit. It doesn't have to be much, honestly."

3. I live in Kansas

just across the border from Missouri, and I can't tell you how annoying it is to have Missourians state smugly they couldn't afford to live on the Kansas side because of the taxes (as if we're all rich idiots here) and then wonder why their schools are so crappy and the roads don't get plowed properly in the winter.

I do not know about the federal level, but I know that my part of Kansas (Johnson County) sends in much more in taxes to Topeka than it gets back. And I expect that would be true about this county and the federal taxes.

10. Is there a way to check that out on a county

basis? Given how much more Johnson County contributes to the state coffers then it gets back, I expect the same is true for the federal level, that we put in more than we get back.

About ten years ago some counties out in western Kansas were saying the wanted to secede from the state and form their own state, and I wish they had. They have no idea how little the contribute of what they get, and it would be nice if they'd find out.

7. You know something?

I love Missouri, but I'm also aware of the fact that if I move over to Kansas, I could get an immediate $3 to $4 an hour raise for what I'm doing. And I've begun to give it serious consideration.

Blunt publicly stated that tort reform and making it more difficult to get workers compensation would lure more businesses here. I don't think it will work that way at all.

Those who have trained, will migrate to states that pay better and have better benefits. In addition, Missourians recently voted to take scarce tax money out of the schools and put it into the roads. Given those two facts, why would business move to Missouri?

our car insurance rates went down by more than 50%.

That was a big advantage for us since we had two teenage drivers in our household.

15. Speaking of businesses moving to MIssouri

is anyone else concerned about the biomedical research industry's future in KC? The limits on stem cell research have hurt. The MO state legislature is looking at legislation that would do serious damage to this industry, which is one of KC's newest and most promising. Also, if KS changes its Science standards and minimizes evolution, what scientist would want to move to the Sunflower state, especially if he/she has kids?
