How to defeat Roy Blunt (for the U.S. House)
He may be an entrenched incumbent, but......

1.) he is Babyface's daddy, and with Governor Babyface's approval ratings tanking, Daddy Blunt could suffer some of the anti-Blunt backlash in '06.

2.) he is recently divorced

3.) he is out-of-touch on Social Security.

Ousting Roy Blunt from the U.S. House will be a tough fight, but one that is winnable. Here is a candidate who could give Daddy Blunt a run for his money:

Help to draft Jim Kreider for the U.S. House of Representatives in '06!!!

It has to start somewhere!

1. Go, Jim Kreider, go!
He's the best hope -- in the best time -- to beat Roy Blunt.

2. What about Newberry? Compare and contrast.

3. Jim Newberry
Good guy, bad campaign. Never gained traction. Didn't do enough outreach to the broader 7th District. Raised and spent less than one-tenth the amount Blunt spent. Failed to counter Blunt's television ads. Didn't have enough name recognition across the Ozarks.

Most of all: Newberry didn't gain much more traction than the candidates who opposed Blunt in 2002 and 2000 (and who spent very little money doing so). In those years, Blunt won with around 75 percent of the vote. Last November, Blunt won with 70 percent of the vote.

Go Kreider!

4. Hope he gets caught molesting children on tape
Other than that I wouldn't hope for much. I definitely hope we can oust him but it doesn't seem particularly likely.

5. Blount is more than entrenched
He is still loved by South East Missouri. I worked under him (Roy, not Matt). And I can tell you, going to SE Missouri with Blount is like being on a rock n' roll show. They love him. I don't think that his divorce, his rancid child or anything short of being caught naked in bed with a man and a crack pipe is going to pull his SE support away from him.

7. What?
Roy was caught with a naked man AND a crack pipe? Joy of joys!

OK, just a pipe dream. You're right about Roy being a rock star to many down here. Talking with a local bigshot Dem, his only concern was Roy's ability to bring pork to the district. As this person said, "Some call it pork, but we like to call it bacon."

That said, the Draft Kreider movement is a go, and fundraising has started. More details are here:
