Our next meetup is one week from tonight (June 15) at South Park in Lawrence. We will be entertained by MuseRider and her band playing Sousa music. The band starts at 8:00. They will be playing in the gazebo on the east side of Mass St. After the band concert, we will go for drinks, etc at one of Lawrence's fine establishments.
So come one, come all, bring your families and friends.
KC Duers, we have had DUers from Lawrence and Topeka and Leavenworth coming to KC all year for our meetups. We thought it would be considerate of us to meet them in KS. I hope you will all be there with us a week from tonight.

I don't think I'll be able to make this one, though. Take lots of pictures!

I'd love to ride with you guys. I was worried about having a few too many and driving back, to tell the truth.

I will PM you later in the week to set up the details. It will be a fun road trip.
We went up there tonight. Muse's band plays every Wed. But it was rained out tonight. So we went to eat with Comer and his girlfriend.

5. Sousa, huh? A brass band? |
|
Sounds like summer weekends when I was a kid, and a brass band would play Sousa and other martial music in the park. Are we having a picnic or just loading up coolers?

I will bring some picnic food. But I am not sure about booze in the park. We can have some after the concert. It's over at 9:00. And of course, in my car, we can do whatever. ROAD TRIP!! :hippie:

We were talking about the Royals with Comer over dinner earlier.
Spread the word about our meetup. I hope we have a good turnout.
I checked in to parks here in KC. Most charge $75 or $80 to use a shelter. We could try for a free spot at one of them but that could mean we have to camp out the night before to reserve the spot - or get there really early in the morning. I really like Rosedale Park and I think it might be free but it is always busy now since they have the frisbee golf course.
What's the name of that park close to where you live? By Volker School?

One of the last brick roads in the city runs through it. It's got a baseball diamond, a football/soccer field, picnic tables and grills, tennis courts and a childrens playground. And we've had gatherings there free of charge. Thanks for reminding me.

This month is so busy that if any of us miss a day someone will have to work a sunday. I work for an amatuer boxing company and our silver gloves tourny is coming up.
It is all work everyday for me now till mid-july.
Thank you So Much for the invite and the feeling I am a connected member on DU.
Thanks again and sorry I can't make this one.
Suzi.

Looking ahead to next week, I have so much other stuff going on that I don't think I can do a Wednesday night road trip to Lawrence. I hate to miss my second gathering in a row, but it looks like that's what will happen. I apologize especially to all those who have traveled to meet up in KC!

My daughter has both swimming lessons and tball on Wed. It's a rather long schedule for us. She won't be done until after 8.
