KC Star: Blunt’s re-election campaign off to a strong start
The donations from doctors began rolling in within days after Gov. Matt Blunt signed legislation making it harder for injured patients to sue.

Health-care interests kicked in more than $150,000 to Blunt’s re-election campaign, $1 out of every $6 that the governor took in during the second quarter of the year.

The insurance industry, which was allowed to recommend its own top regulator in Missouri, was another significant source of cash, contributing $30,050. Car and truck dealers, who saw one of their own named to the state highway commission, also weighed in, giving nearly $20,000.

...

Blunt supported several initiatives that pleased the insurance industry. For example, he named insurance agency owner Dale Finke insurance director, the top regulator charged with protecting consumers from unscrupulous insurance practices. Finke was recommended by a group of insurance executives and campaign donors who screened applicants for the job.

1. Isn't this little pipsqueak one of the most hated governors in the US?
I have heard there are only about 2 more hated governors. Taft of Ohio is one.

4. Insurance loves him!!
Doctors’ insurance rates rise
Malpractice claim payouts fall in ’04.

<snip>

The report "means the industry was wildly, breathtakingly profitable in 2004," Angoff said.

2. I don't know, Blunt has done much to piss off ppl on a personal level...
I've talked to countless people who voted for Blunt (my grandmother and step-aunt, for instance) whose social programs have been cut. I think voters will remember that when the time comes.

5. I agree with you,
I don't think Missouri voters are that stupid. I don't think you can stiff them as badly as Blunt has, and not have them remember.
