Downtown Council to run fee office
Gov. Matt Blunt’s administration announced a new operator for the downtown Kansas City motor vehicle bureau Thursday, more than six weeks after the office closed.
The Downtown Council of Kansas City, a nonprofit organization of property owners, will run the office, which is expected to open by month’s end.
A former employee of the downtown license bureau said the office is expected to remain in the Fletcher Daniels State Office Building, 615 E. 13th St., although council members could not be reached to confirm that.

Revenue Department Director Trish Vincent, who oversees the license offices, apologized for the delay in reopening the office. The downtown office closed June 30 as part of a transition from a state-run facility to a privately operated one.
