Blunt to get award

Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt is one of this year’s Ten Outstanding Young Americans, an honor given by the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce-the Jaycees.

The award recognizes achievements in government service, philanthropy, legal reform, moral or religious leadership, personal improvement and “success in the influence of public opinion.”

Blunt is scheduled to attend the awards ceremony tonight in Boston. He was nominated by the Joplin Jaycees.

Winners have to be between 18 and 40 years old. (Blunt, in case you were wondering, is 34.) Past honorees include Presidents John F. Kennedy, Gerald Ford and Bill Clinton.

Matt "Skippy" Blunt? I can think of at least 200 adjectives that apply to him and none of them are "outstanding."

Oh well, as my grandmother use to say, "Great minds run in the same channels, but only fools think alike." (But when she used it on me, I was never sure whether it was a compliment or not. Grandma was kinda funny that way!) :)
