(Missouri) Senate OKs Voting ID bill

The Missouri Senate wasted little time Monday afternoon, giving final approval to the bill mandating a government-issued photo ID for all voters.

The bill allows provisional ballots for those voters without such an ID for the the November election. (See recent post below for details.)

The final vote was 23-9, with one Democrat joining all the Republicans in supporting the bill. The other Democrats voted against it — except for Senate Minority Leader Maida Coleman, D-St. Louis, who was absent.

The Senate version estimates that it would cost the state slightly more than $4 million this year to pay for the vans and extra Department of Revenue staff needed to supply the photo IDs for the 170,000 or so Missouri voters who don’t have drivers licenses.

Missouri is trying hard to become one of the most backward states in the nation.

Hate gays, support churches, screw the mentally ill, screw the poor who can't afford health insurance, now screw the poor out of their right to vote.

I am pretty sure that the ACLU is all over this.

So I doubt we will see this as a reality in the near future.

I also suspect that should this become law, as soon as they need to cut the budget, this expense will be one of the first to go. So it may not look like a poll tax now, but it will be soon enough.

I do hope the ACLU is all over this, this stinks to high heaven. If we don't get rid of everyone of these lamebrained bastards come November I'm thinking they can have this goddamn refuge for looney right and jaysus lovers.
