Any DU'ers in Joplin?

We've been in NE Oklahoma for 6 months and really hate it, and we're thinking of moving to Joplin. How are the schools, general temperment of the population, etc?

1. I am

about 30 miles south of Joplin, in McDonald County. Joplin is a pretty decent little city, it is defintely red, but is a bit more blue than mcdonald county...lots of things to do in Joplin also...:) I like joplin, but my wife and I are tied down in Mac county...:)

2. Use to live there.

We were very impressed with the elem. school our son went to on the west side of Joplin, Cecil floyd. Red but not as bad as more rural counties, 5% or so better, plus MSSU. Springfield is better though.
