GOP mudfest is just a warmup for November
It’s appropriate, in Missouri, that the elephant is the symbol of the Republican Party. Candidates who challenge the status quo had better have a hide worthy of that thick-skinned beast.

I think you’re more likely to get good people who decide public service isn’t worth the risk to themselves and their families. Roe recently told The Boston Herald that he trolls Internet sites, looking for compromising photos and information about candidates and their children.
Politics has rarely ever been civil, and the Internet has made it worse. Innuendo about Republican and Democratic candidates in this month’s Kansas City area primaries found its way onto political blogs, including one published by The Kansas City Star.
Roe is notable because he is so open about his intent to dig up dirt and because he has ties to Gov. Matt Blunt and the Missouri Republican Party. Neither seems inclined to rein him in. The state Republican Party, in fact, weighed in with its own negative mailings about Brazil.
