Don't worry yet - as said St. Louis and Kansas City have lots and lots of democratic voters. I've been watching the CBS page - it is good because it shows which precincts are reported.

should put Claire over the top. OR ELSE!!!!!
I wonder if all of KC will report tonight. Yesterday I thought we'd have major problems, but I hope not.
Meg, I don't know where you are, but at your polling place did you have anti-stem cell people saying vote no? Mine did. I'm wondering if they were all over the state.

I don't get it... if you can say whatever you want and just make up shit about your opponent like Talent did, why can't we run ads saying he is a sex offender or a pedophile or a drug abuser? Who cares if its true?

I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself. I'm new to registering but have lurked since 04. I just registered in case I couldn't access DU tonight. DU was inaccessible to us lurkers the night of the 04 election, after which I cried for days. (Because of the election results, not because I couldn't get DU!)
Most people involved in the Kerry campaign in Kansas City -- at the Wornall office -- know me on sight if not by name.
You guys are absolutely fabulous here!
I was fortunate enough to be at a Dem HQ on Broadway earlier today when Claire McCaskill came in. She said "thank you for coming" and I said "thank you for running."

Can anyone tell me which counties in the Kansas City area are generally liberal? I can see that many of those with the most precincts have not yet reported. I'm wondering which ones of those are most likely liberal? I can tell you St. Louis City is very liberal. St. Louis county is more even, but I think went more for Kerry than Bush. St. Charles is more conservative. St. Charles is mostly in. St. Louis City is now starting to mostly come in (78% for Claire). St. Louis County still only 1 precinct reporting. This is what I'm looking at - Mo results county by county http://election.cbsnews.com/campaign2006/county.shtml?state=MO&race=S&jurisdiction=0Meg

Downtown, midtown and Brookside trend liberal. Lees Summit I am not too sure about. South KC is less liberal. Along Ward Parkway there is often a split, and I haven't driven by lately to inspect who has what signs up.

This is completely un-scientific, but the one precinct in here is 457 votes ahead for Claire. Multiply that by the 680 precincts still left to go and that's 310,760 more votes for claire (she's behind somewhere around 60,000

Ok, my math isn't holding up.
Now with 75 reporting, we are only 2654 ahead in St. Louis County, so that's only 35 votes extra per precinct, 23,835 addl. from that county - as I said completely unscientific and I don't know which precincts are liberal and which conservative.

I saw some earlier results on Cleaver and was astonished that the opponent was close. I expect that one flew right under the radar. Cleaver campaigned for other Dems and gave his all for them. He did little for himself.
He is a wonderful and inspirational speaker and I hope to see more of him on C-Span after he is reelected to the House.

I saw a story earlier today - I think they said it was Joplin - that they ran out of ballots, and they were photocopying ballots and having people mark on them and people were going to transfer them to the optical scan and scan them in.
Am I right - was this Joplin, or am I thinking of somepleace else.

I don't know, but it seems to me that logically, the less populated areas would tend to be the ones to come in first, just because there aren't as many votes to count. The less populated areas tend to go Republican around here, and further out less populated more democrat.
