Well folks, I'm glad we kicked ass nationally, because locally, the Dems in my county got spanked badly. There were a lot of local races, and only one Dem won, and the Dem won Prosecuting Attorney, from the R. Incumbent.
I'm saddened that we recieved such a defeat locally, I know and have personally worked with every single one of them, and I thought for sure we had at leas 3 of the races won, but thats life....
I will post some results, from the McDonald County Press, on the state wide elections...
1. Jim Talent(R)-3796, Claire M(D)-1947-US Senate
2. Sandra Thomas(R)-3490, Susan Montee(D)-2047-State Auditor
3. Roy Blunt(R)-4048, Jack Truman(D)-1746-US Rep 7th district
4. Marilyn Ruestman(R)-2156, Ben Carnahan(D)-1138-State Rep 131st Dist.
5. Kevin Wilson(R)-1889, John Felders(D)-785-State Rep 130th Dist
6. Constitutional Amendment NO. 2(Stem Cell) A. Yes-2576 B. No-3415
7. Constitutional Amendment NO. 3(tobacco tax) A. Yes-2357 B. No-3612
8. Constitutional Amendment No. 6(Vet's tax exemption) A. Yes-3421 B. No-2337
9. Constitutional Amendment NO. 7(Pension Fofreiture) A. Yes-5081 B. No-745(I dont' understand this one at all)
10. Proposition B Minimum Wage A. Yes-4528 B. No-1400
Thats the numbers, its very interesting noticeing that so many voted no on the min wage..especially when our county is dirt poor...and the 745 for the NO on amendment 7 blew me away...must be all state workers!...:) Another number of interest, there are 14,728 registered voters in this county, and only 6,016 voted on Tuesday.
Locally, we have two democrats in our government, which is...well, like I have mentioned before, this is a very red county, and hopefully we will put more dents in the R armor of this county. I'm just so sick, of seeing the R's with power/money/family in this area dictate direction. Oh, a letter to the editor by one of our Dems, from our club, that I would like to share with you all...
Claire Wins
Dear Editor, For the Good of our Nation, and our state of Missouri, I thank God for St. Louis and Kansas City.
Unnamed, from Noel, MO
I read this one last night, and I'm in full agreement...thank you, to everyone in Missouri for the state wide wins, without you guys, Talent would still be in power, and the amendments would have suffered greatly. I'm so glad there are more sane people in the urban areas, than rural...but we are trying to turn the tide out here. Thanks Missouri! You have given me a sense of hope(for once)...:)
