Dear Military Families,
As the mother of a US Marine whose son was deployed twice to Iraq and a third deployment pending, it is disheartening when our representatives who send our loved ones to war, refuse to even meet with them to hear their concerns. I have been trying for three weeks to get an appointment with Rep. Blunt on Jan. 29 to share my concerns with him. Below is a summary of my actions:


Original Fax sent on Jan 12. I explained I was the mother of a US Marine who had deployed twice to Iraq and with this "Troop Surge" my son is looking at a third deployment. I explained I was very concerned and would like to discuss this with Rep. Blunt and that I would be in DC on Jan. 29 would they please contact me to schedule an appointment. Called Jan. 16. I was told Fax was received and scheduler is working on it and the will call me soon. Called on Jan 18 and was told whip office handles this and was transferred.
Whip office said they never received fax. When I verified fax number, I was given another fax number and was told to start process all over again. Faxed request again on Jan.18.
Called Jan 22, and was told they would call me back, yet they never asked for my name or number and hung up on me. Called Jan 23, they stated they would call me back. I had to insist they take my name and number.


I have given up hope of getting an appointment the polite way. Now I call upon my family of MFSO to assist me in getting an appointment. I only have two days left before the bus from Missouri leaves to Washington DC. Please call and fax his office and let them know how you feel when a parent who has sacrificed so much cannot even get her representative to listen to her.

1. Go to your local newspapers and TV stations

Blunt is much more likely to be responsive in response to their interest in your plight, then in our interest in your plight

A nice documented audit trail of contacts will make it so much more difficult for blunts office to deny you. Take names of who you talked to as well as date and times.

Blunt's office scheduled the appointment today.
