MO Rep Blames VA shooting on victims, "culture of entitlement" |
|
In Rep. Emery (R-126-Lamar) new capital report he uses his typical automatic ideological based thinking this time pertaining to the victims of the Virginia Tech shooting. Writing about how the victims could have allowed so many people to be shot he asks: "What caused the apparent paralysis and impotence?"
He thinks that maybe the young men were busy "assisting others, especially the young ladies, to escape" but is confounded by why the victims did not rush the gunman.
Why does he think this would be true?
"Is it possible we witnessed some tragic consequences of America's new culture of entitlement and dependence? American young men are no longer taught to act in an emergency; today's culture teaches that it is someone else's job to act."
Is it possible that people "allowed" so many to die without taking action because of the culture of selfishness, greed, and self righteousness? The type of thinking that may have resulted in the Missouri Medicaid cuts? It would be if I had no management of the impact of my ideology on my thinking. For gun control advocates it may be a gun control issue, for mental health advocates it is a health care issue, and for those who blame poverty and disability on laziness, well we get what Ed sent.
Hey Ed, might you have blamed some of this on the shooter?

I think the more natural reaction for people is to go into a state of shock or disbelief when they're faced with something far outside of the norm. The talking point that the kids should have somehow rushed the gunman is just more evidence of how ignorant the right is when it comes to human nature.
