Missouri Post-Dispatch Poll: McCain 47, Obama 46, "Obama might have edged ahead."

That's the upshot of a new Post-Dispatch/KMOV-TV poll of 800 likely Missouri voters conducted this week by Maryland-based Research 2000.

The uncertainty over the nation's economy appears to be helping Democrat Barack Obama in the state. The poll showed Republican John McCain with a one-point edge, 47 percent to 46 percent for Obama. A week earlier, a similar Research 2000 poll showed McCain held a 4 percentage point lead.


This week's poll, like the earlier one, has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points for each number. That means McCain might have a larger lead, or Obama might have edged ahead.

"It's now essentially tied," said pollster Del Ali, head of Research 2000.
