We need to know about any problems relating to the November election ... anything at all that needs to be rectified or prevented or stopped or changed.
Like voter suppression. Like misleading or slanderous, lying TV ads. Like push polls that ask "if I told you that Obama has ties to the (insert name of any terrorist group), would you vote for him?" Like voter registration apps that disappear. Like anything else that doesn't smell right.
So ... please post about it here so that Obama people can take action. Or start your own thread about your concerns.
Thanks.
We're gonna win in Missouri!

1. The "Obama Truth Squad" is active in Missouri. They are |
|
reminding people that Obama is a Christian and that he will cut taxes for everyone making less than $250,000 per year, while Republicans are saying Obama is a Muslim and that he'll raise taxes.
It is time to stand up and speak out.
Please post here so that the Truth Squad will be made aware of any Republican dirty tricks or lies and smears that affect Missourians.

2. Anybody? No? Okay then, I'll start: |
|
Republicans performed a nasty little task on the Sunday before the '04 election. It was successful in rural areas, and they may try it again this year. Obama supporters should keep an eye out for this one.
Here's a letter printed in the November 4, 2004 Kansas City Star which explains what was done:
NOT AT CHURCH
"As I left church Sunday, I was shocked to see a most inappropriate display of partisan politics inflicted upon our congregation. As I approached my vehicle, I noticed a flier stuck under the windshield wiper of my car and others in our church parking lot.
"Someone had surreptitiously placed partisan literature (Republican) on the window of each vehicle in our church parking lot. This was done without asking permission from our church, and with no notice to our church. The information in these fliers was biased and focused solely on wedge issues.
"Several people have questioned whether our church supported or authorized these fliers. We did not. Although political promotion is not illegal, this action is certainly not appropriate, no matter what political party is involved."
Rev. Robert A. Maffitt First United Methodist Church of Odessa
The fliers, of course, said scary things about John Kerry.
Now, if I lived in a rural area, I'd cruise around on Sunday before this year's election and see what might be placed on windshields while church is in session. And, knowing me, I'd go right into any church parking lot and remove any inflammatory fliers that I found.

5. I think it was state-wide. Obama has offices in many rural areas |
|
and I believe supporters there are in contact with churches, keeping the lines of communication open and giving churchgoers an understanding of who Obama is and why our nation needs him. So Republicans will not have such an easy time of it if they saturate rurals with frightening anti-Obama literature this year.
But I'd still watch out for Republican operatives distributing fliers on the Sunday before election day or attempting some other dirty-type GOP trick aimed at churchgoers just prior to the election.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x7228734Matt Blunt has a meltdown because Obama supporters are getting the truth out and calling attention to Republican lies in Missouri.

So McCain appears to be caging in Missouri and Pat Roberts in the "safe" state of Kansas.

11. I went to the Plaza Library in KC to vote early yesterday. |
|
But after filling out the form you have to fill out (there's a problem with the form), and then discovering my only option was to use an electronic machine, I chose not to vote at that time.
This one is so important I'm starting a new thread about it in the Missouri forum.
