Hey Springfield people, I had an idea today |
|
You know the walkway over Campbell (by Steak and Shake, close to James River Freeway)? It has chain link fencing, and I'm sure you've seen people stick styrofoam cups to spell out messages in the fencing and those driving below can see it. Its the perfect place to either freeway blog or put up a message of Obama 08 right before the election. Its not illegal either, as far as I know.
Anyone interested in helping with this?

is going to get some 4'x6' Obama signs either next week or the week after. Start looking for great locations where there's lots of slow traffic. The signs have to be staked into the ground with metal or wooden posts, or attached to a structure like a building or fence. The signs are free to supporters, and they're being shipped from the Kansas City metro area.

6. Here's how I find a great location: |
|
I look for busy intersections or streets with heavy traffic, especially with a nearby stoplight to slow traffic down. Then I look for an Obama sign in someone's yard at that location. Then I go ring the doorbell and ask if they'd like a free large Obama sign, and I offer to deliver it to them and even install it if they don't want to pick the sign up themselves.
Works almost every time.

|
Thanks for the info about big signs. I don't live in Springfield but very near. I'll see if I can't get some great locations for big ones.

8. There's 15 of them, and they'll be shipped as soon as they're ready at the factory. |
|
They're supposed to be ready next Thursday, but could be earlier. I'll try to let you know. They're being shipped to the attention of Erin (Field Organizer) at the Springfield office.

9. I say we do it. I used to go to Kickapoo, and worked near there. |
|
So I'd cross the bridge every day. And multiple times they had messages in styrofoam cups.
It's a cute idea, and effective because of the high traffic over Campbell.
We should to it the night before election day to remind people to vote.
