Problem at the polls in Kansas City |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 06:04 PM by protect our future
If this doesn't constitute serious "voting irregularities" needing investigation, I don't know what does.
In Kansas City when the polls opened on election day, several polling places were missing their books and voters could not immediately vote. An official at the polling place where I first learned of this said they had received the books from the wrong precinct.
It was eventually straightened out -- between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., as I understand it -- and the correct books were received at the correct polling places. I was told one of the local TV channels covered this story yesterday but I have been so busy I do not know what was actually reported.
Rumor had it yesterday that this happened in six different precincts, but another rumor says it was five. Sorry I cannot be more specific. I do know for certain three different precincts were affected, including the one where I was.
The SOS was notified early, and voters names were handwritten on blank pages at the various affected precincts until the proper books were delivered to the proper polling places. Our participating attorneys learned of the problem early too.
I've heard all these precincts were in heavy Dem areas.
I wonder how many voters had to leave and go to work before voting. I know from experience that if you miss work for any reason, you could lose your job.

1. Will these votes count? |

I was wondering ... what will happen to the votes from people whose names were handwritten onto blank pages in the wrong books?
Are they being checked and cross-referenced with the registration rolls contained in the correct books, and were the number of votes already cast tallied when the polling places received their own books back after being open for up to 3 hours? I'd think this would have to be done, but what do I know. I'm just one insignificant concerned citizen who desperately wants to be proud of her state instead of sickened by it.
