heavy votes from all the Republicans for Hartzler in Saline and Lafayette wouldn't matter personally for them in the end, since they are now falling under the fifth district. Of course, I'm still stuck with her and I didn't vote for her.
Interesting-Ike Skelton could have been reelected and things would have been difficult. He is from Lafayette County and they are part of the restructure.

everyone around here is complaining about the loss of Ike in politics. They knew he was the best choice but still let themselves be conned into Hartzler.
I think they could have fought the redistricting. I heard that Joe Aull in Saline County wants to fight it. He said that Saline shouldn't be lumped in with the urban district since they are mostly farmland and over 90 minutes away from KC.

She's aligned with tea party crazies.

7. I thought she was an embarrassment before |

with the way she attacked Ike's record. She made comments about how he never did anything for the military. Supposedly she called a WWII vet a liar when he defended Ike. (I don't know how true that is but it's a rumor that has made the rounds. Normally, I'd call it a falsehood but with what I saw happen with the Republicans in local elections I'm not sure if I'm all that surprised. Did you know that the Republicans consider Methodists to be members of a cult, according to a robocall I received? That story's for another day and time.)
Many of the Republicans that ran this time around in my area were tea party crazies. Unfortunately, quite a few voters took them seriously.

5. That didn't even dawn on me |

that Columbia and my town, Warrensburg, would now be in the same district. Hartzler will have to do a lot of fighting for higher education, something which she's not a huge proponent.

8. did the democrats control the legislature the last time the lines were redrawn? |
|
Because if they did, they should have drawn a district for Skelton that would have gone from Columbia to the black precincts of KC. It was a shame that he lost re-election to a Marilyn Musgrave clone.
