HELENA - Republican gubernatorial Pat Davison launched a new television ad Friday that attacks his GOP primary rival Bob Brown as "too liberal on taxes."
Davison, a Billings business consultant, put up his second TV ad on Friday. Davison's campaign manager, Scot Crockett, said the campaign had made "a large statewide buy," but declined to say how much it will cost.
The new ad replaced one started two weeks ago that was a positive ad describing Davison's proposals.
Davison, who had pledged last summer not to donate money to his own campaign, financed these ads with a loan of an as yet undisclosed amount to his own campaign. The 30-second says Brown "voted 73 times for higher taxes" and calls Davison the "conservative choice."
The ad shows a black-and-white photo of Brown as an odometer rolls up to 73 times for the number of times Davison says Brown voted to raise taxes as a legislator. The ad checks off the kinds of tax increases Brown voted for. Then various denominations of paper money fly on top of Brown's photo as this message appears on the cash: "Bob Brown. Too liberal on taxes."
