Didn't Max Baucus just get busted for Abramoff ties recently as well? |
|
I heard he had an Abramoff linked goon doing fundraising for him. Gosh, Max, Conrad and Denny.... what a sad sack lot they are. Baucus used to be one of my heroes, now I barely have any respect at all for the guy. He's never been much of a fighter, but he's just become a useless, weak bureaucrat in recent years. No spine at all anymore. I wish he'd get it together again. He used to have a great voting record but now he votes for stuff like the Bankruptcy bill and so on. It's disheartening to see a guy like Max toss away the good regular people who work hard and vote for him. He's supposed to be one of the good guys, it bothers me to see him evolve into just another tool.

Agree 100% about ol Max of late. What a disappointment he is now.
Come on, Max. The state voted in a dilly of a governor. It's COOL to be DEM again! If not, don't bother to run ever again, cuz yer fired.

2. My Uncle met Baucus probably twenty years ago... |
|
I think it was at a Fair or something, a bunch of people were all around Max fawning over him, getting autographs etc. My Uncle was just kind of standing around so Max came over to him and was like " you don't seem to excited to see me etc, don't you think I'm doing a good job." My Uncle told him that he meant no disrespect but that he used to be a senate page for Mike Mansfield and carried RFK's briefcase for him every morning, so he didn't get too starstruck over most politicians. Nowadays, my Uncle likes Baucus, but he's always telling me that what a difference it is having a guy like Max who is barely a Dem represent MT when back in the old days we had Mike Mansfield and Lee Metcalf watching our backs for us. I wish he'd get it together and be more like Schweitzer. It is cool to be a Dem again, great line, haha!

4. Hmmm, gee, so you don't like the Gov? |
|
Besides where he shops, what are your complaints? Curious.

7. I won't vote for him again. Period. |
|
The bankruptcy bill was the tipping point, capping a LONG string of disappointments. He is a TOOL, as you say. Like the black farmer situation there were women, latino and native farmers who were systematically stiffed by FSA here in eastern MT and lost their land. Neither he nor his local person (Liz Chang) would give these people the time of day. What is he there for? I was told by one them that Richard Lugars office was more supportive, and these people are all Democrats. And as we have come to expect, he voted for John Roberts, who has already gone to work serving the powerful.

8. wow, I didn't know that about the farmers... |
|
so Dick Lugar was more receptive than Max? That's pretty low of Baucus. When I move back I doubt I'll vote for him. No way. At least Schweitzer is holding down the fort for MTans anyway.

9. If we're talking about Abramoff, we need to include Burns. |
|
I just read the report from Beyond DeLay listing the 13 most corrupt members of Congress, and lo and behold, there was the Honorable Conrad Burns. He is in so much deeper than Baucus or Rehberg. You would think that Montana papers would be all over this. I have only read a few, not very critical articles.
Read the report at www.beyonddelay.org.

Good ol' Con Job Burns is neck deep in that Abramoff stuff. You'd think the MSM would be all over just about everything Republicans are doing, but they are too weak and status quo oriented. Better to lick Conrad's bootheels than to expose the racist, senile old coot. Go figure.
