Brown solicitations go to kids that donated to Davison's camp
Campaign manager says letters were an accidentBy JENNIFER McKEE - IR State Bureau - 6/04/04
HELENA — Five months after GOP gubernatorial candidate Bob Brown complained that his opponent, Pat Davison, took campaign contributions from children, Brown has sent letters soliciting donations to at least two of the same kids.
Brown's campaign recently sent letters to two Billings children, Lilli and Hanna Knudsen, ages 7 and 10 respectively. The same girls donated $500 apiece to the Davison for governor campaign and were among the spate of underage Davison donors that attracted the attention of Brown in January.
After Brown complained, Davison refunded $9,460 the campaign had received from underage donors over concerns the money really came from their parents and skirted the cap on donations to governor campaigns. Davison refunded Hanna and Lilli's father, Billings businessman Don Knudsen, $1,000 in January.
