anyone in Thayer County?? Custer County??

My great-grandfather homesteaded in Custer Co after the Civil War; the family lived in a sod house. I believe the Ridenour and (E)Utsler families, also from IA, were relatives.

The families of both parents of my ex were early settlers in Thayer County.

When we met in grad school in CA (he from Utah, me from OK), we used to joke that we married the girl/boy 'next door.'

My grandfather from Switzerland tried to homestead in NE; he later married the daughter of my great-grandfather from IA.
