1. No surprise there. The Omaha World Herald spews the bush* line |
|
of propaganda every day. Reading the editorial page is like wading in a sewer.
My dad always referred to this place as being a boil on the ass of the universe.

One thing you can say about Nebraskans – we’re a loyal bunch of folks. Texas Tech handed us our worst defeat in history this fall, and, forever optimistic we say, “We’ll show ‘em next year! GO HUSKERS!”
Loyalty to our Huskers is a good thing.
However, for this publication to ask for my continued loyalty to a failed presidency is more than I can swallow. Our country has been harmed by this president. World opinion lies in a shambles at his feet. For the first time in the history of our nation, we find ourselves to be the aggressor in an unjustified war. Contrary to the spin the Bush campaign has tried to put on the face of it, the world is a more dangerous place than it was on September 11, 2001. Our environment is being despoiled. Our economy is being bankrupted. And you tell us that Bush deserves another four years.
Shame on you!

Sent late last night, I was really pissed and didn't sign it so I know it won't get printed. Here you go: ----------------- That has to be the single most asinine endorsement I've EVER read, and I've read at least 20 this last 2 weeks alone. Your last line dealing with the virtue of single-mindedness is telling because it shows how simple minded you people really are. Your use of a mysterious poll, not saying when it was taken, what the sample was or anything else, shows your contempt for the intelligence of your reading audience. Anyone not living under a rock can tell you that polls are clearly showing that John Kerry has made great strides in the minds of open minded people around this country concerning his ability to lead the war on terror. The use of fear is nothing new in society, but to have a newspaper blatantly appeal to the fears of its readers is despicable. George Bush was President on 9/11, the attacks on the towers and Pentagon happened under his watch. If he had taken the threat seriously from the beginning it might never had happened. I want you to read what was written by a newspaper in Bergen City, NJ:
"If you hired someone to manage your affairs, but he spent all your savings and drove you deeply into debt, you would fire him. If he insulted some of your oldest friends and turned them against you, you would fire him. If he put your children in harm's way, risked their lives, and misled you about the reasons, you would fire him." George Bush lied and now 1100 soldiers are dead, we need to fire the liar. George Bush is an embarrassment to this nation, and because of this ridiculous fear mongering endorsement your newspaper is an embarrassment to the people of Nebraska. As far as I'm concerned you just lost a customer.

5. Resubmit it with signature. |

It's great. And it needs to be heard around this Red state. (If Huskers change their colors to blue, will Nebraskans turn Dem?)

6. I usually hear it refered to as the Lincoln Urinal Star |

Most of the dipsticks in Nebraska think of politics more as a team sport where you have to cheer for the Huskers than a decision to make between two different visions of the future. Most won't even give a dem a chance. Even if the dem was actually more conservative than the repuke and promised to give everyone in the state a million dollars upon election, I think they would check the box next of the guy with the 'R' by his name. People in NE don't even follow issues, they are so partisan. Don't ask me how Ben Nelson can get elected for anything above dog catcher.
