Alex Svoboda suffered brutal injuries while being arrested during a peaceful protest in Rhode Island. She is a Lincoln native and has no health care coverage. Here is the Lincoln Papers take on it: http://journalstar.com/articles/2007/08/14/news/local/doc46c0e5282e1dc956956837.txtAnd pictures: http://jonathanmcintosh.smugmug.com/gallery/3293537Nebraskans for Peace are sponsoring a march in solidarity. http://www.nebraskansforpeace.org/?p=61#more-61

1. Thanks for the heads up, BensMom. |

I read the first dozen comments on the Journal Star story and I am dismayed by the anti-protest sentiment there. Ugh.
I'll be there on Sunday.

girl down and break her leg. But as far as giving her side of the story, there's nothing there. Nothing. The 'drumsticks' enraged a police officer? Well, then he's pretty unstable and probably shouldn't be on a police force anywhere.
As for reader responses, Nebraska is pretty much a shitstain on the ass of the country. It votes republican and derides any anti-establishment movements or actions because its firmly entrenched in the WASP-based corporatist supporting camp. Doesn't matter if the demonstrators are right, they're bucking the powers-that-be and that's all that matters.
