Man who helped mayor shed pounds will now run his office
The man who helps the mayor manage his weight will soon be managing his office.
Las Vegas city officials confirmed Monday that Mayor Oscar Goodman has hired his personal trainer, Frank Butterfield, to replace mayoral chief of staff Stephanie Boixo, who is resigning Jan. 1.
Butterfield, 44, has never before held a government job, but he has management experience in the private sector as the former executive director of Las Vegas Athletic Clubs, a position in which he oversaw 120 employees at three health clubs.
"People are going to look at me and say how does a personal trainer get this job," said Butterfield, who is scheduled to start work Dec. 15. "I know there's going to be a learning curve, but managing people is managing people no matter where you do it."
