MINDEN, Nev. (AP) - One of the featured speakers at a $40-a-plate Democratic Party dinner in Minden was an unintentional no-show.
Henderson Mayor Jim Gibson, a gubernatorial candidate, was unable to catch a Saturday afternoon flight out of Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport because he forgot to bring his wallet and identification, spokesman Greg Bortolin said.
Gibson felt "terrible" about missing Saturday night's dinner at the Carson Valley Inn, but could not board the plane without the ID, Bortolin said.
Gibson is vying for the Democratic nomination against Nevada Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus of Las Vegas.
"I'm sure Sen. Titus will show us some kindness," Bortolin told the Nevada Appeal.
