Sullivan Proposes BudgetSmart Plan
(MANCHESTER)- State Rep. Peter Sullivan today announced his support for a series of reforms to help restore accountability and responsibility to the federal budget process.
Rep. Sullivan's BudgetSmart plan will provide greater accountability by requiring roll-call votes on major new spending initiatives and efforts to raise the public debt limit; require an honest, nonpartisan estimate of the cost of legislation; establish a federal "rainy-day" fund; end the abuse of the emergency spending process; and return Congress to a pay-as-you go budget process.
"Taxpayers deserve to know how their money is being spent. That is a simple and undeniable right" said Sullivan. "The BudgetSmart proposal is a critical first step towards restoring fiscal sanity to Washington".
