Benson running illegal ads in violation of AGs cease & desist order. |
|
On behalf of Craig Benson, the Republican Governors' Association has begun running $500,000 worth of illegal attack ads against John Lynch.
On Friday, October 8, 2004, the New Hampshire Attorney General's office issued a Cease And Desist order telling the Republican Governors' Association that it would be subject to felony prosecution if it went ahead with running its ads.
The Republican Governors' Association went ahead with the ads anyway -- telling New Hampshire newspapers that it has no intention of complying with New Hampshire law.
Although he is an active member of the Republican Governors' Association, Craig Benson shrugged his shoulders and said he wouldn't do anything to stop his allies from breaking New Hampshire law, and ignoring the orders of his own Attorney General's office.
This is part of a pattern by the Republican Governors' Association. Last month, North Carolina's election board fined the organization $200,000 for running illegal ads there.

there are no depths to which they will not sink. Have you seen the Benson ad with the woman in a wheelchair? She's a paid staffer. That is not only morally repugnant, but isn't it illegal?
I dearly hope that Kelly Ayotte has the ovaries to prosecute.
