Is there a vulnerable Democrat in North or Central NJ who needs volunteer help? |
|
I have phone banked and canvased in the past in my district, represented by Rodney Frelinghuysen in past elections. Even in the last two democratic wave elections, he was never vulnerable even when an excellent candidate, who likely could have won an open seat in most districts, ran against him.
This year, I am wondering if there are any potentially close races nearby where volunteering might be more useful to protect a seat or help get one. (Not that I think one additional volunteer is likely to make a difference.)

1. how far south do you want to go? |
|
While I don't think the two incumbent Democratic congressmen in Monmouth County (Frank Pallone and Rush Holt) are in trouble, they could always use all the help they can get. Pallone's opponent is a tea party darling who wants to drill off the coast of NJ.
If you want a nailbiter race, help John Adler.

2. Thanks - Parts of Holt's district seem very possible |
|
I live in Randolph - and the NW part of his district seems very possible. He also is outstanding - I had really hoped that Corzine would appoint him at the point he appointed Menendez. It really looks like his district is stretched over the whole middle of the state.
I think I would feel guilty doing nothing - and my district is really almost a waste of time.

3. I have not seen any numbers on Holt |
|
but good on you for wanting to help him. He could definitely use it as Scott Siprelle (sp?) is not exactly a pauper and is prepared to spend his own $$ on attack ads. Holt's campaign HQ is near Trenton (I forgot the name of the town).
Holt's a good guy, and deserves to be re-elected (most of the NJ Democrats do-- there's a few Republicans that need to go too).
Another campaign you might want to consider is Ed Potosnak. He's running in the 7th against Lance and he has a shot according to the latest poll numbers. I'd love for the Democrats to pick up a seat in NJ.

4. 7th is even better - it borders my district |
|
I'll definitely look into what could be done for at least one of them. This does seem like it will be a critical year - which is why I want to help when I can.
Thanks for your advice - it i a lot more informative than just googling the Congressional districts.

5. do you ever read at Blue Jersey |
|
They're a great and very informed group there. I know the 6th and 12th congressional districts in NJ pretty well so if you have any questions about either, just let me know. I somewhat know the 4th (at least parts of it--- I'd love for it to turn blue but that's a long battle)

I had never registered and didn't comment. I likely should join there, instead of just being on Blue Mass, their sister site.

7. i read some of the Blue Jersey stuff and looked at soem google |

results. The NJ 7 race does look interesting. It could be a fun race to help in - at least better than going through the motions in a district that really is not up for grabs. I do think the anti-incumbent mood is not JUST anti Obama. This candidate's youth and his science/education background could be an asset. Thanks for your help.

8. Please please please help Ed! |
|
We need all the help we can get. Here's some wind at your back . . .
During last summer's health care debate and leading up to it? I emailed, mailed typed letters, delivered hand written notes: 138 in TOTAL to that tool Lance.
I finally got a snotty form letter response after two weeks after health care bill passed.
I want that snotty, sniveling jerk out out of the House. Ed is a Science teacher (taught at Bridgewater HS). Then went on to teach at the University level, and also owns a small business (home repair). He'll get: Environmental issues, education, and small business owners/blue collar workers.

Lance is on high defense - can't get a punch in.
Can it possibly be that NJ will come through and one of those 'incumbent' upsets will be throwing out a Republican?

There is a Democrat, Douglas Herbert, That is running against Rodney. You can volunteer to his campaign by going to his website (www.douglasherbert.org) or stopping by the Democratic HQ (11 Washington Street in Morristown) I myself have been volunteering to the campaign and I see that help is appreciated. I also can answer any questions for you.
