1. Break it down for me

I haven't been in NM THAT long (and I'm in the northern part of the state to boot) so a bio on each candidate would be nice. Gimme the 411.

2. I haven't really researched them either.

I know Steinborn personally, or at least I had lunch with him one time. He was the southern field rep for Bingaman. I'll post more if I find out anything.

7. Unfortunately, I think it will boil down to...

... which of the two can raise the most money--Pearce is well hooked into the gas/ranching money, and it showed--he had about $1.5 million to spend.

Pearce is a do-nothing wacko with a lot of strange ideas, but it takes a lot of money for ads to convince people of that reality. King is probably going to be better at raising money than Steinborn, but either would be a most refreshing change from Pearce.

8. Pearce is a DeLay wanna be.

He got a whole bunch of lies about the Medicare bill printed in a free bulletin given out to seniors. I made a big stink about it, and the senior cityizens went through his lies one by one.

At the end, they were HORRIFIED by this bill which is terrible for rural Americans.If we energize and educate the seniors, we can get this putz out.

Jeff came to our county meeting to have us sign his petition to be on the ballot. Was not impressed. His main claim to fame seemed to be that Richardson called him back into government, and since Richardson is not exactly the best thing since swiss cheese,this went over like a lead balloon down here. We are pretty green Democrats here.

Will look at the sites and educate myself before the primary.I worked my butt off to defeat Pearce and Domenici the last time. Tired of beating my head against the wall.

3. I like them both

I am so pleased that we have two reasonably easy-to-support candidates. I have let my friend Alan Hale (yes, our area has the Hale of Hale-Bopp Comet fame) pursuade me that Steinborn is the best candidate and I haven't come up with any reason not to stick with him. Hale protested with our Peace group when Bush was in town and wrote a wonderful anti-war piece that our newspaper acutally printed.

4. 2nd District Seesaw

Hi All--
I really don't know who to support. Steinborn seems to have some really good progressive positions, but I got a push poll from his campaign a few weeks ago that was pretty sleazy. Gary King seems more in the middle, and I think he's got a better chance, what with name recognition and link with Gov. Bruce. I want whoever can beat Bush Echo Chamber Pearce.
