3. Any ideas on who could be drafted? |
|
I'm really drawing a blank. The dems in this state are so lukewarm.

6. We should have grass-roots heroes support grass-root candidates: |
|
No high profiles. A choice of the people, from the people. A normal person.

4. I called his office before the vote and told him that we WOULD do this if |
|
he didn't vote against cloture, and I called him after telling him that I felt betrayed, that he no longer represented me.
I say we do it, I would be willing to help, too.
We only have until 2/14!!
We need to organize quick!

7. Could there be someone in Santa Fe? |
|
????
I'm really not connected with politicos in the state. I have no idea.
I don't know if going to the SF Dem party would help. Are there any DFA members here from NM on DU? Maybe they have ideas.

It's one big fight, after all.

Do we want to take over NM Dem politics? Do we want to elect AT LEAST one *real* Dem Senator?
Then let's do it the smart way. Galloping off in all directions at once, spitting with rage, isn't going to do much. There's not enough time OR enough groundwork and infrastructure to take on Bingaman right now. Here's what we have to do--
1. We have to articulate *precisely* what we want, in measurable, concrete, achievable terms. Achievable short- and long-term (i.e., "replace Bingaman" might be achievable long-term, not short term. OTOH, "get at least one member of Our Group on the committee of each of these (name countie(s)) Democratic Party organizations" is achievable this year.
2. We need a name and a minimal structure. Could be a members-only blog or other online meeting place, but we also need a "secretariat," a place where we keep track of who is doing what, and mark the progress toward those goals.
3. We need ways to attract & recruit others like us. Start with a list of ideas-- here is fine, even.
Anyone else in Santa Fe? I'm so new here I'm probably not the best point person, but I'm a gonzo organizer & administrative type.
Can we get a "roll call" here?
TygrBright: Santa Fe. On board. Check.
militantly, Bright

I'll help. I've been here for six years, but keep to myself, for the most part.
I have a Online Development business I started up recently, and I 'd be glad to lend my skills to this.
I can make stylish websites with good database support. Custom made.
I really want change.

11. Cool. Hopefully we can get... |
|
...other NM DUers aboard, too. There's not much action in this forum so I know we don't all check it obsessively often, as SOME OF US ::whistles innocently:: do the LBN or other fora. But I think most of us rotate through every few days.
Where are you, Kral?
What do you think of the name "Underground Democrats?"

This guy is owned by big ABQ businesses. This isn't our man.
I admit he has helped the ABQ economy, but the ends don't justify the means.

he's probably not interested anyway.
I thought he did well with the Tingley Beach project.
Hey, as an aside..
Do you have ANY CLUE what's going on down on the Rio Grande river just south of Alameda?
They're doing one hell of a lot of work down there (construction of some sort).

He ramrodded the Paseo project through the petroglyphs. The developers were ecstatic about that now weren't they...
Pissed me off.
