NY 26th Congressional District: Is Davis going to run again? |
|
If you haven't heard of the 2004 campaign in the NY 26th, the summary version is that ex-Republican businessman turned Democrat Jack Davis put $1.2 million of his own money into defeating our incumbant Republican congressman, Tom Reynolds, who's head of the RNCC. While Reynolds wasn't ousted, he went from a 50-point margin in 2002 to a 10-point margin in 2004, with an almost totally unknown challenger.
So here's the big question: Is Davis going to run again for the NY 26th? If he does, I still have my campaign buttons. If he isn't, who is going to be running here? I'd like to be represented by someone who's not Tom Delay's surrogate dickhead.

In an article this past Sunday, the Buffalo News talked about accusations by Reynolds against Davis' nonprofit group (an anti-free-trade organization). In this article, the BuffNews referred to Davis as Reynolds' presumptive 2006 challenger. A good sign, hopefully. I only had time to skim it, but it seemed like a good article for the most part. Davis stated that he was going to look into the matter (political campaigning by a 503c group), though a spokesman for the non-profit basically said that Reynolds was muckraking, and talking out his ass. Not in those words, of course. If Reynolds considers Davis to be still a threat, then presumably he's not out of the running.
