The Coalition on West Valley Nuclear Wastes today filed a complaint against the U.S. Department of Energy. In a press release announcing the filing, the citizens' group cited the DOE's "failure to fully clean up the unstable West Valley Nuclear Site."
The complaint, filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York before Senior Judge John Curtin, asks the court to strike the DOE's June record of decision regarding the classification of radioactive nuclear waste.
"The Department of Energy is laying the legal groundwork now to abandon the site and leave wastes in the ground that will be dangerous for over 100,000 years," the coalition release states. <snip>
