This is an outrage! People might not be able to get to work on time!

1. Outrage? I sympathize with the transit workers. |
|
Except now it's past midnight and no one bothered to announce anything - that bugs me.

2. I would sympathize with them |
|
if the majority of them weren't so friggin' rude. I have yet to meet a nice MTA worker that sits in the token booths. 8% increases per year for the next 3 is a bit outrageous. Im all for unions but this is ridiculous.

3. Transit Queens? Buy too much gold too? How ridiculous is that? |
|
Envy those poor people? No booth worker was ever rude to me. That's why sharks like Bloomberg get by in our city - we're too busy tearing eachother down to bother voting.

9. I think there is a problem with priorities |
|
The MTA is currently spending too much on construction that is not essential (i.e. the N/R transfer to the 1 at South Ferry), as well as on the "holiday discounts". No way is that paying for itself. I would even doubt any economic activity it would generate is making up for it.
The vast majority of MTA riders are daily commuters, tourists aren't going to decide to go to NY because there is a discount on metro cards.
As for the transit workers, sure the money would be better spent on them than the aforementioned projects, but 8% a year? How many people get that kind of raise, especially in that kind of work?

10. I think the MTA is spending on bonuses. I had not heard that they |
|
cannot afford those raises - they didn't claim it. It's just mean greed - the era of Bushco.
