OT advice about how much to pay for dog sitting in Hudson Valley area |
|
Edited on Fri May-05-06 05:53 PM by phylny
I don't know if anyone can give me some direction. We need someone to stay in our house overnight for six or seven days to take care of our elderly dog. The person would be responsible for feeding and watering the dog, giving her medicine twice per day, letting her out in the morning, when they get home from work, and at night. I'd find someone to take her out in the afternoon when she needs it. The person will be able to go to work, go out to do stuff, etc. I just really don't want to leave the dog home alone at night. FYI, the house is large, clean, and comfortable and has nice amenities, so it wouldn't be a terrible hardship for someone (other than being away from their own house, etc.)
I have a person in mind, but we haven't discussed money. How much do you think I should pay in this area for someone?
Thanks to any advice you can give me.
Edit: PS, the dog is a real sweetie, quiet, easygoing.

In my area of Saratoga County, for this service, we pay about $50 per day. Perhaps, though, with just one dog, you could get away with $25 per day. After all, the person has to be there at the right times and give the dog medicine.
Probably not the answer you wanted, but that is still quite a bit less expensive than a boarding kennel and the dog is in her own home.

2. I really don't have a set amount in mind, and I'll |

do what I have to so that I'm sure she's taken care of.
Thanks for the response!
