Massa offers more for district than KuhlMay 25, 2006
U.S. Rep. John R. Kuhl and your editors are gravely mistaken in believing that the solemn oath taken by all federal officers says something about bringing pork back to the district.
"To support and defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic ..." means that a congressman or any other federal officer must ethically place the greater good of our nation over all other priorities. A farm bill, road bill or security initiative that is good for our country as a whole will also be good for our district. To act otherwise is to eschew that oath and lose one's ethical and moral standing.
Based on his dismal record, his lack of meaningful support for the military and their families, his woeful stand on the environment and his failure to understand his oath, Kuhl demonstrates his New York legislative roots -- a body for which I have little respect.
Our representative needs to stay on the job in Washington, D.C., instead of traveling the district promising more pork. It's no wonder that Congress holds an approval rating lower than that of our president.
Eric Massa swore and abided by that same oath for a full Naval career, has solid experience in national and international affairs, and a deep concern for the regular people of the 29th District.
We deserve better than Kuhl has offered, and for the above reasons, this "Teddy Roosevelt" Republican unequivocally supports Massa's bid to be our next congressional representative.
http://www.stargazettenews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060525/OPINION02/605250311 A recent poll showed a statistical dead heat. And the NYT called Kuhl "perhaps the most vulnerable of any incumbent" in Congress. We have a real chance to win this one, and we need to if we want to take back the House in 2006. I love the fact that self-identified Repubs are writing LTTE supporting a Dem for Congress. :)
Massa's site is
http://www.massaforcongress.com/ It's a statistical dead heat, but we have a real chance for a pickup here.
