Does anyone know anything about those co-op towers just off of Fordham Road, just east of the 207th St. bridge from Manhattan? There are always sales listings there, and one wonders why they're so affordable by NYC standards.

3. Those would be the Fordham Hill Coops... |
|
the gated high rise community where Fordham meets Sedgwick Ave.
I don't know much... was inside once about 25 yrs ago; nice views of the East River and probably the Manhattan skyline if you are up high enough.
Not a particularly safe area but it is gated and they used to have their own security. Not particularly close to the subway... nearest would be on Jerome , #4 train.
The buildings are nice, as I recall. They were rental at one time and converted to coops in the eighties, I'd guess. Bronx coops tend to be the most reasonable $$$ in the city. Note the ads for Parkchester, for instance, and Co-op City is still an incredible bargain.
The big drawback would be the substandard public schools... if schools are a concern. Only a handful of public schools in the borough are producing kids who are at or above the state average.
Hope that helps.

They're saying it's like Riverdale for those who can't afford Riverdale. The Sedgewick Riviera, if you will.
