I just moved here this weekend...Manhattan priced me out after 8 years, so I searched and found a swell place (I have loads of space at last, and can see the ocean.) I feel lucky to be here, very happy, but am utterly ignorant of this area of Brooklyn. Can anybody help out with a little advice on what's here, what to do, where to eat, etc?
Many thanks! D

1. Seagate, by any chance? |

Coney Island has some rough sections ... lots of subsidized housing projects.
Welcome to Brooklyn, where everything is, at most, a bus ride away.
If you PM me with more localized information, I can share my favorite spots.

Brighton Beach has great Russian restaurants if you are interested in that. By bus and/or train, there is Bay Ridge, Park Slope, and lots more of interest.
